Recently I observed a few new gagetry ideas that were somewhat unique. How about sizzors for cutting Pizza slices or some tongs that help you lift your turkey?

There are numerous new electronic gadgets such as an electronic pepper mill that grinds your pepper and then monitors the remaining peppercorns you have left.  I found a hand held electronic mixer/blender and a refrigerator air purifier. I found a voice alert thermometor and even a cleaver cutter.

I saw some gadget that monitors your recipies and even gives you access to internet recipies mounted conveniently to your kitchen cabinets to observe while you cook. You could place something like this close to your beautiful knife block or lovely knife block set.

Don’t hesitate to tell me about your discovery of some new gadget that interests you. I welcome your comments.

chicagocutlery-49015.gifChicago Cutlery provides a knife block set that gives you a choice of various styles and sizes all contained within blocks made of natural hardwood.  The coloring in the block may vary somewhat but most will be nearly the same natural color.  The size of the block will depend on the set of cutlery.  The block sets could contain as few as 7 pieces of kitchen cutlery up to 24 pieces of cutlery within one block.  Chicago Cutlery has varied styles such as their Basics, Classic Chef, Metropolitan, Forum, Insignia Steel, Insignia 2, Walnut Signature, Walnut Tradition, and Landmark.  Each has their own unique styling.

Likewise, Ginsu also provides knife block sets, but unlike Chicago Cutlery, their 14silver-upright.jpgblocks come in either a black or natural colored hardwood, but also in a Bamboo Block.    The one unique thing about the Ginsu blocks is that some can be mounted on the wall or under the counter for saving space as well as the traditional counter top block.  Ginsu knife block sets come in different sizes ranging from a 5 piece (including the block) up to 36 pieces (including the block).  Ginsu, too has a selection of styles to choose from including their unique Chikara Series, Stainless Steel Sets, Bakelite Handled Sets and the Home Basics Set which is the one to contain the 36 pieces.

No matter what your choice might be of either of the two different brands, either one is of high quality and lasting value.

14-s-walll.jpgThe kitchen knife block set is usually a wooden block with slits to contain all the knives of the set.  These sets can range from the very basic sets to a full set of every knife needed in your kitchen.    The kitchen knife block set is usually conveniently  stored with all the knives within your immediate reach during food preparation with every knife for each job available with the block set.  There are block sets that are the traditional type where they are set on the counter, but there are also those available that can be mounted on the wall or under the counter as a space saver.  Ginsu provides these wall or under-the-counter space saving block sets while Chicago Cutlery provides the traditional block sets.  Either brand would be an attractive addition to your kitchen as well as a very useful set of tools within an organized block and in your convenient location.

chicagocutlery-1067998.gifKitchen knives are available in sets or they can be purchased as a single item in both Chicago Cutlery or Ginsu.  Block sets come in a variety of combinations with just a few basic knives or with a wide range of all the kitchen knives you would ever need for any task performed in your kitchen as well as a variety of block woods and colors.  You might ask what is the best knife and block set.  You might start out purchasing a quality knife or knife set and then add to it or you might  want to purchase a block set to begin.  Quality knives and block sets range in prices but it is recommended that whatever you purchase, keep in mind the quality, what kind of warranty it has, is it made by a reputable company, what kind of durability, precision and balance does it have, and last but not least, is it a knife or block set that will best suit your needs.

04875-knives-in-block.jpgKnife blocks are important for storing your knife sets.  The blocks are recommended as a safe means for storing the knives to protect both the knife and user.  Knife blocks usually come in bamboo or hardwood with wood grains and wood colors.  However, Ginsu also offers a black knife block with some of their knife block sets which would add a contemporary look,  style, and color coordination to your kitchen if you did not want the wood color.
